Come and drive a steam locomotive on a full round trip from Rowsley South to Matlock and return, join our trained crews on a once in a lifetime experience hauling a guards van through the beautiful Derwent Valley with your hands on the regulator.

Your friends and family can join you and travel in the Guards van on the back of the train, photos and video stops are part of the trip. You get to feel what it was like to haul a train back up the valley to Rowsley back in the days of steam.

Why not try your hand at driving our diesel locomotive Class 44 D8 ‘Penyghent’, these days will include hauling a round trip with carriages to Matlock and return. Family and friends can ride ‘on the cushions’ whilst you drive, photos and video stops are part of the trip. You get to feel what it was like to haul a train back up the valley to Rowsley.

Timeslots available are either 11:30-13:30 or 13:30-15:30 (These times are approximate).
